They are struggling because they want to know “the why” and “the how.” They are not satisfied with just accepting the way things have been explained to them; they want to know more than what was explained to them in class about the concept or method that has not been explained to them by whoever is teaching them, or they missed grasping it well because they are being slowed down by fellow students. He addresses these gaps at a personal level to make the students get on top of the concepts. Thereby getting the confidence to study and excel.
More to the point, the teacher might not have properly explained to the student what is going on. So they miss the concept because they are smart and it has not been explained to them; they’re trying to gain understanding but they can’t.
